How to Increase Productivity? Stop Torturing Your Body

Do you recall those particular days when you have meetings scheduled since 8 o’clock in the morning, and it sounds like a dream being there. The only thing we count on such days is this magical thing in the photo, the coffee cup. Caffeine of espresso is what we keep loading our body desperate for energy and in need to wake our brain. But, guess what: we forget that brain alone could not do the whole thing. We need other body organs to wake up and work properly.

I’m talking about the concept of: biological rhythm of human body. In short words, biological rhythm has to do with the 24 hours function of human body. I mean the time body organs need to rest, the time to regain their full function and the time to properly function. According to the scientists of Oxford University, Great Britain, human bodey requires 2-3 hours to enter in full function. Thus, they suggest that the right time to start productive activities (work, schooling, etc.) is 10.00 a.m. Every similar activity before this time is equal to body torturing.

The same scientists performed an experiment with a group of teenagers: they postponed the school’s start time from 8.30 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. Students achieved better results in their tests and had better attendance of schooling hours. In other words, their productivity at school was improved. And, the only reasonable explanation is the compatibility of their biological rhythm with their new school regime. Teenagers tend to sleep by midnight, need to rest for 9 full hours and are ready and awaken for school at 10.00 a.m.

Scientific studies conclude that one of the biggest problems of modern times is the inconsistency between the biological rhythm of human body with the social rhythm established from the elite of the society. This inconsistency cause the problems people face with the deficiency in sleeping and their decreased individual productivity. I believe it’s the right time for us, public, as majority, to impose our willpower to the elite, in order to change the schedules of our professional commitments, and to set 10.00 a.m. as the start time for professional activities. Such change will help to increase productivity of the population aging 14 – 50 years old. Meanwhile, it need to be said that the current working schedules work well for employees older than 50. Their age requires for the body to sleep early and to wake up earlier in the morning.

The big question mark is: Which of the groups of active population should receive priority when we speak about the productivity of Labor Force in general? I vote for the younger group, as they have more potential and working years to contribute to society. What are your thoughts about this issue?
