How to make Healthy Rice with Milk

Rice with Milk is one of the most beloved desserts for children. It is a big love in my family, as everyone prefers so much this light and very nutritious dessert. As you know, Grandma Xheni likes to invest in healthy foods and has adapted the traditional recipe of rice with milk. She has replaced cornstarch with rice flour. Her version of the dessert is safer for babies as well. Here I go with the recipe:

  • 1/2 cup rice for soup
  • 1 liter of fresh milk
  • 3 tablespoons rice flour
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • salt
  • Powdered cinnamon
  • Jam as per your taste

Pour the cleaned rice into a saucepan with 2 1/2 cups of cold water and one teaspoon of salt. Let it simmer, stirring until the rice is softened and looks like gruel paste, left with little water. Meanwhile, pour the milk into a bowl and mix it with the rice flour.

Pour the milk mixture to the rice and stir well. Add sugar and continue to stir until the preparation comes to boil. Let it simmer until the preparation is thick enough. Test the thickness by inserting a spoon at the preparation and if it is worn, we have the right thickness. While still hot, pour the rice with milk in dessert bowls and sprinkle it with cinnamon powder. I added on top of the dessert a bit of grapes jam for an even more fantastic taste.

Bon Appetite!

Grandma Xheni advises better eating Healthy Rice with Milk when it is chilly. This recipe is for 6 dessert cups and comes as our proposal for the weekend to delight the whole family.
